The Theology of Long Lines and Mickey Bars

There is a particular kind of quiet that settles over you in the ninety‑minute queue for Peter Pan’s Flight. It is not the quiet of a sanctuary, but it might be its cousin.

A pew that moves

I used to think holiness required a candle, a chapel, and at least one stained‑glass window. Then I had three kids, a stroller, and an annual pass.

"Be still and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10

Stillness, it turns out, is a posture more than a place. It can happen in a switchback, beside a churro cart, with a four‑year‑old on your hip.

Three small practices

  1. Breathe in the line. Four counts in, six counts out. Let the queue rope do its job.
  2. Name one good thing. Out loud, to whoever is closest.
  3. Pray for the family in front of you. They have a story you will never know.

The Mickey bar at the end is grace. But the line was the prayer.
